ASM Redundancy / High Availability
-
ASM can perform mirroring to recover from device/disk failures.
-
ASM provide External, Norma and High redundancy mirroring
-
When, we implement hardware level (RAD) mirroring, called External redundancy.
-
When, we implement two failover groups on disk group, called Normal redundancy. In normal redundancy, ASM will create one additional copy of an extent for redundancy.
-
When we implement three failover groups on disk group, called high redundancy. In high redundancy, ASM will create two additional copy of an extent for redundancy.
-
Mirroring is implemented via “failure groups” and extent partnering; ASM can tolerate the complete loss of all disks in a failure group when NORMAL or HIGH redundancy is implemented.
